SeemsFree has declined a strongly worded "request" to cooperation with Government Intelligence agents in an inquiry about a man buying large quantities of composition notebooks. It seems the GIA agents were somehow alerted that a single man, described to be in his "over forties, well over" has been buying all the available stock of composition notebooks from SeemsFree stores in the Boulder-Springs, Colorado area, and paying with a single credit card. The following is a brief excerpt from our legal response to GIA and other federal agencies.

"SeemsFree will not, under any circumstances, divulge any information on our shoppers to the federal government or any of its agencies. We charge that any information the government may have about the use of credit cards or any other purchase documentation is illegally obtained. We cannot understand what possible interest the federal government could have in a single individual buying hundreds of composition notebooks. Are they afraid he might teach people how to write their congressional representatives?

What comes next? If this were the 1950s, we would be concerned about the Fed's interest in people buying pens with RED ink. We believe that the Fed should forget this 'notebook man' and get their focus back on things that matter, like banking regulation and the SEC.

SeemsFree would also like to make very clear their objections to GIA functioning in a matter that takes place inside the borders of the United States. We implore congress for sanctions against GIA for operating within domestic boundaries, and threatening American companies, with hundreds of thousands of American employees."
